Pebbles are small, sturdy Veras that settle along riverbeds, cliff sides, and quiet garden paths on Floki Island. Easy to overlook, they are often mistaken for ordinary stones nestled in moss and roots. Patient by nature, they rest for long stretches, listening to faint tremors in the earth, then quietly form rings around vulnerable Veras or wandering children when danger draws near, hardening their shells and sharing their strength through the ground beneath. Many Vikings have noticed how closely Pebbles resemble the towering Golem Veras, and countless tales try to explain the bond between them. Some claim Pebbles slowly grow over many years into Golems, while others insist that when a Golem finally collapses, it scatters into a field of sleeping Pebbles. No theory has ever been proven, but whenever a Pebble stirs at a traveler’s heel, some swear they can feel the echo of something much older and heavier just beneath the surface.
