Hello Vikings!

It is said that long ago, Floki, a Vera of great power, roamed the plains of Valhalla. When a great disaster struck, Floki unleashed a roar so mighty it shook the very fabric of the realm, saving both Vikings and Veras alike. The calamity was averted, but Floki vanished. As tribute, the Gods themselves are said to have shaped the island’s highest mountain in his image.

The wise Madhattrs never forgot this sacrifice. For generations, they gathered and stored magical energy containing traces of Floki’s essence, passing it down through the ages. Now, stirred by recent grandiose events in Valhalla, that energy has finally reached its peak, and the time has come to release it. The Madhattrs have cast their ultimate arcane spell… and Floki has returned.

As the Madhattrs’ spell reached across the realms, a curious astral being took notice. Taeylr, ever drawn to mysteries of creation, followed the thread of magic back to its source, slipping through the arcane gate before it could close.

This major patch introduces two new Veras to the island: the long-awaited Floki, and the elusive Taeylr. It also brings major changes to how Vera health and condition work across battles. Fatigue, injury, and recovery now play a greater role in how your companions grow. Alongside this, you’ll find updates to chests, essences, and the island’s economy (Mr. Brown’s at it again), plus a round of targeted balance tweaks and fixes to keep things smooth across the board.

Take a look! ⚔️

Floki and Taeylr

Thanks to Madhattr's spell, two new Veras have joined the island's roster.

First up is the long-awaited Floki. A cheerful, agile, and inspiring companion known for bridging gaps, biting dips, and howling “WAGMI” loud enough for all to hear. Floki is currently the rarest Vera known to exist, and only the skilled Tracker has ever managed to find one. Note that the Random Track option cannot locate Floki, only manual tracking will lead you to this companion.

Next is Taeylr, a patient and cunning Vera that harnesses Astral energy. They can be difficult to master, but when played to their full potential, they leave opponents chasing shadows. Taeylrs are also rare, though not quite as elusive as Floki, and are found about as often as Orni.

Heads up! For the Testnet version of this patch, encounter rates for Taeylr have been increased, and Floki can be found in encounters on the island as well. You’ll still need to maze through the island’s twists and turns to track them down, but for now, it’s more than possible.

Vera Condition & Fatigue

Madhattr's stored energy has long kept the island charged, keeping Veras safe from fatigue. However, after releasing their ultimate spell, Madhattrs shrunk to their original size and these protective effects faded away.

From now on, all Veras have a Fatigue property that builds up as they participate and lose in Competitive Matches (ranked PvP and tournaments). As fatigue rises, their condition worsens and their stats suffer accordingly:

  • 0–9 FatigueHealthy – No effect.

  • 10–19 FatigueBruised – All stats reduced by 10%.

  • 20–29 FatigueInjured – All stats reduced by 25%.

  • 30 Fatigue (Max)Shattered – All stats reduced by 50%.

A new Condition tab has been added to the Vera Daycare. There, Level 1 Veras can be utilized (consumed) to mend and stabilize fatigued Veras, restoring them to peak condition.

Veras With Low Health

The impact of Veras with low HP has also increased. From now on, you cannot queue, find encounters, or battle in all modes (except challenge a friend) until your Veras recover at least a quarter of their total HP, either through passive regeneration or active healing (potions for example).

In Competitive Matches (ranked PvP and tournaments), losing now sets all participating Veras’ HP to zero (surrendering counts as well). This makes it more difficult to spam matches without downtime and helps reduce botting and win-trading.

However, once a competitive match begins, all eligible Veras will still start at full HP, just as before.

Chests & Vera Essence

Vera Chests will no longer drop as loot reserve rewards from battles. Existing Vera chests remain fully functional and can still be opened normally, but no new ones will appear as drops. Vera Essence rewards have been reworked. Chests can now yield Vera Essences that correspond to the rarity of the Veras themselves. Additionally, the amount of Essence earned from leveling up or releasing Veras has been reduced to help balance total circulation.

The Bank

Mr. Brown, Floki Island’s resident expert on economic forces, has shifted his focus entirely toward Onyx interest. As a result, Runix interest from bank vaults has been removed.

Onyx vault interest remains the same (as adjusted following recent Elo related changes). This means Vikings with large Runix reserves will need to continue battling, questing, and farming to grow their Runix wealth further.

Balance Changes

Several Veras have received tuning adjustments this patch. This is just the beginning, more balance updates are on the horizon.

  • Skaerrot

    • Healing Turf – Now can apply its healing effect to enemies that take on the turf tiles as well, introducing more situational risk.
  • Madhattr

    • Redirect – Can now target up to 3 Arcane Bombs simultaneously, improving both power and flexibility.

    • Arcane RiftFormerly Teleport. Instead of allowing you to choose any tile, you now choose specifically a Vera within a 4-tile range to swap positions with.

  • Orni

    • Disarming Jabs – Now targets 3 tiles instead of 1.

    • Martial Gusto – Now applies Snared to hit targets.

    • Meditate – Grants Unstoppable to Orni, making him immune to Snare, Exhaust, and Asleep for that turn.

    • Cane Sweep – Now targets 5 tiles instead of 4.

Side note, we’re aware that the target selection visuals and highlights (used by abilities such as Homing Carrot and Arcane Rift) can be difficult to see, and we’re working on improvements for this in an upcoming patch.

Other Updates and Fixes

  • Mirrored View Indicator – In PvP battles, a new indicator now shows which player is considered Player 1 on the server. While both players always see their Veras on the left side of the screen, the battlefield itself has a single “true” direction in the game world. Since this can affect certain abilities and collision behaviors, knowing your orientation is important. Hovering over the indicator will show whether you are Player 1 or 2, along with a short explanation.

  • Stash Stats – Fixed an issue where stashed Veras displayed incorrect stats.

  • Stash Cooldown – The cooldown for transferring Veras from the Stash back into the game has been reduced to zero (for now).

That's all for today! While we've done our best to catch all the bugs, it's possible that a few might have slipped through. We have faith in our Vikings to help us identify and report any issues they come across. Until next time!
