Hello Vikings!
This patch introduces Valhalla Tournaments, a grand challenge hosted by the gods of Valhalla to determine and celebrate the mightiest Vikings. Potions have been reworked with powerful new effects, and a brand-new Spectator Mode lets you watch other Vikings’ battles unfold in real time. Alongside these, Vera nicknames as well as several stability and user flow fixes have been implemented to enhance the game experience.
Take a look! ⚔️
Tournaments: Valhalla Summons the Bold
Step into Valhalla's Tournament arena and establish your legacy! Tournaments deliver high-stakes competition with live coverage and all players are welcome.
Tournaments consist of two phases: the qualification phase and the bracket phase. Any player can enter the qualification phase, where they fight three other randomly-chosen challengers.
Only the best advance to the bracket phase: a series of single-elimination knockout challenges where only one Viking will emerge victorious. Each tier in the bracket phase rewards qualifying players with treasures from Valhalla's massive treasury!
Navigate to the Combat HUB through an Obelisk to join a tournament. To do so, select the battle button, and choose Tournament from the list of modes. There, you can enter the tournament. Once entered, you can queue up for a qualifier match against another challenger.
You can play up to 3 qualification battles, with each win earning you one point. The qualification battles are scheduled at predetermined times. Make sure you are queued up and ready for the battle more than 15 minutes in advance, because after that you can no longer queue up, and will thus miss out on a battle opportunity! Once queued up, you will be unable to exit the queue. You will automatically be moved into battle. In the event of an odd number of players in the queue, the player with the highest Elo receives a free win.
Players with the most points advance to the bracket phase. A total of 64 players can advance from the qualifier phase to the bracket phase. If players are tied for the last few spots, we'll use two tiebreakers to decide who moves on: first, the player with the higher Elo advances. If there's still a tie, the player with the oldest character (lowest Character ID) gets the spot.
Battles in the bracket phase are also played at predetermined times. Once again, ensure you are ready and queued up more than 15 minutes in advance! Battles are automatically created when the predetermined time is reached, and failing to do so results in an IMMEDIATE forfeit for the side that doesn’t show up.
Note that there are no draws in tournament battles. In case of a tie, the winner is decided through tie-breakers: first by the number of surviving Veras, then by highest damage dealt (throughout every battle in the Qualifications or the Brackets so far, respectively), and lastly by oldest character (lowest character ID).
Spectator Mode
Alongside the Tournaments, we're introducing an exciting new feature to Valhalla Spectator Mode. Now you can watch ongoing PvP and Tournament battles through the Combat Hub. To spectate, simply navigate to the Combat Hub via an Obelisk, select the Spectate button, and choose which match and side to watch. After completing a tournament match it’s recommended to check out and spectate ongoing games to see what you can learn from your fellow competitors.
Spectated matches unfold in real time with live turn execution. As a spectator, you can examine the Veras of the Viking you’re spectating to learn about their stats and abilities. Also, in case you were worried, spectators don’t see hidden ability objects such as Bjorn’s Traps and Igby’s Scorching Honeys to avoid giving info to players in real time.
Here's a little secret: you'll know if someone is spectating you by checking the bottom left corner of your screen, next to the action panel.
New Status Effects and Potion Buffs
Two powerful new status effects are now part of the game. Inspired joins the roster, and Unstoppable, which was previously exclusive to the Golem in the Immortal Gauntlet, is now more widely available.
- Inspired – Boosts your Strength, Intellect, and Charisma by 25%.
- Note: when the effect ends, stats may return a point lower due to rounding (e.g. 99.5 becomes 99). This reduction only lasts for that battle and does not affect your Vera permanently.
- Unstoppable – Grants immunity to Asleep, Exhausted, and Snared.
Potions have also been reworked with major buffs that will shake up your tactics and open new paths to victory.
-
Health Potions – Still restore 25% of your max HP, but now also grant Inspired for 2 turns.
-
Charge Potions – Still restore 35% of your max charge (was scaled down from 40%), but now also grant Unstoppable for 2 turns.
Use them carefully: potions can still be captured by enemy Veras if they land on enemy tiles through collisions or repositioning. In those cases, your opponents will gain the same regeneration and status effects instead.
Vera Nicknames
You can now assign nicknames to your Veras from the inventory. This makes it easier to tell apart Veras of the same species and adds a personal touch to your collection. Nicknames are also visible to your opponents in PvP, so victory might come not just through strategy, but by making them crack up at your Vera’s name as a distraction.

That's all for today! While we've done our best to catch all the bugs, it's possible that a few might have slipped through.
