Hello Vikings!
Today’s patch includes a range of compact gameplay and quality-of-life improvements, along with significant bug fixes. These updates wouldn’t have been possible without your play-testing, bug reports, suggestions, and discussions—so let’s give a round of applause to everyone who contributed!
We hope you enjoy these improvements and wish you the best of luck in your upcoming adventures on Floki Island.
Enhanced randomness
This patch introduces an upgrade to the randomness system used for creating Veras and other aspects of the game. Previously, randomness was sourced from encoded blockchain data, but this data isn’t truly random.
For many on-chain activities, we want randomness to be truly unpredictable. This doesn’t just apply to Vera encounters but also to determining loot chest types, loot chest contents, and more. By ensuring true randomness, Valhalla becomes more secure and maintains the integrity of its tokens.
Moving forward, Valhalla will source its randomness directly from Binance Oracle VRF, a system that guarantees truly random outcomes. While this integration is being finalized, you may experience minor performance hiccups during the early stages. We’re closely collaborating with the Binance Oracle VRF team to address these issues and ensure a smooth experience in the coming days.
Gauntlet Fight Adjustments
A gameplay change has been introduced to the Gauntlet Boss Fight: the boss no longer stuns itself after performing its powerful attack. While this might initially seem like it only makes the fight more challenging (and that’s not entirely wrong), it also opens up new opportunities for players to chain-lock the boss using different combinations of status effects.
Our advice? Put on your strategy hats and choose your Veras wisely for your next boss battle!
Additionally, the calculation for clan points earned from boss battles has been updated to better reflect players’ effectiveness during the fight.
Chests
We’ve resolved several issues related to opening chests, ensuring a smoother and more reliable experience.
-
Correct Runix Value Display: You’ll now see the correct Runix value for each chest.
-
Immediate Item Display: Items obtained from chests will appear instantly after opening them.
-
Loot Preservation After Disconnection: If you disconnect or refresh while opening a chest, you can return to the blacksmith to view the loot from the most recently opened chest.
B’s Shop
Shop reputation decay has been removed. Players still gain daily streaks for interacting with the shop regularly, which improves trading figures, but there is no negative streaks anymore (the decay) as it didn’t encourage continually trading due to the possibility of losing reputation if players wouldn’t rank up in one go.
Additionally, we added a limitation to the amount of amulets that can be traded in one exchange due to transactions reaching the gas limit. From now on, the shop will indicate if you exceeded the allowed amount of amulets so you can then adjust the trade and follow through with it.
And lastly, to avoid players accidentally donating their items without intending to, a secondary warning message has been added when over-selling items (the selling amount exceeding the shop’s runix supply).
Unlinking Accounts
From now on, after linking your accounts, you can on can only unlink them through the website.
Bug Fixes & Quality of Life Improvements
As mentioned, we addressed a multitude of smaller issues still occurring from recently added systems as well as a decent amount of game-wide improvements. Here is a curated list of the most impactful fixes and improvements:
- A bug was fixed with clan creation where players were wrongly redirected to the clan menu interface rather than the clan creation application when trying to create a clan.
- Throughout different interfaces, we’ve updated the number formats we use in order to show accurate numbers. For example the amount of runix/onyx players own, as well as prices to pay. For instance, what once showed 3.7k will now show 3,745.
- In battles, a few missing visual indications have been fixed. Now, changes in ELO after ranked games and item rewards received upon Vera Leveling up show up when they need to.
- We updated the open world map so that it more accurately depicts Floki Island’s environment. In tandem, we also fixed the pathfinding when setting down a waypoint so it is more accurate to the terrain.
- A few more fixes include Chinese translations of recently added texts that weren’t yet translated, a couple of functional improvements to tooltips, and finally some visual fixes to the tutorial and Immortal Gauntlet fights.
That's all for today! While we've done our best to catch all the bugs, it's possible that a few might have slipped through. We have faith in our Vikings to help us identify and report any issues they come across. Don't hesitate to communicate with us about any problems or bugs you encounter through our community's Discord: https://discord.gg/NJXccsQSfg
Until next patch!
