Patch Notes 0.6.0 - PvP

Play now

Greetings, Vikings! Welcome to the great Mega Optimization Package! Today we are releasing a patch to fix game-breaking bugs and frame rate issues to allow everyone to enjoy the open world to the fullest. This patch includes a couple of changes to achieve this, which you can read all about below.

PvP: online.

“PvP has been added to Valhalla! Vikings are now able to queue up for PvP or challenge a friend directly. To enter PvP, make sure you have played the intro and head over to the PvP tab on Valhalla.game.

New Vera ability system

The infrastructure for Vera’s abilities has been upgraded. It is no longer isolated to its own bubble and is now tied into the full Valhalla smart contract ecosystem. Levelling up is no longer the only way to gain new abilities. Valhalla's Viking game designers can now make full use of achievements (e.g. gain a special ability through earning a specific set of achievements), quests, battle strategies, battle history, and many more things to allow Vikings the opportunity to teach their Veras very specific abilities.

Achievement system: active

Valhalla now tracks a Viking's on-chain battle history. If you were ever curious about any of the following:

  • What abilities did MrBrownWhale's Madhattr perform in that battle against the level 8 Húshroom, and in what order?
  • Who did the most damage using a single ability?
  • Which Viking won the most battles?

Now we'll know! All this data is processed by the Valhalla achievement system. In due time it will hand out specific achievement-related rewards.

Leveling up once more

Vikings have long been stuck with levelling up their Veras to level 2 but now with the blessings of Odin, Veras have evolved and can now be trained until level 9. This means Veras can now learn new abilities and Vikings will be able to expand their strategies and tactics!

Vera selection

Now that Vikings can tame more than one Vera, we also made it possible to bring more than one Vera into combat. When entering into combat, Vikings are introduced to the Vera Selection system. Here the choice of which Vera to utilize in combat can be made between two tamed Veras. These two Veras can also be rearranged at the daycare.

Performance updates

Many updates have been introduced to objects in the world of Valhalla, as well as the rendering thereof. You may expect massive performance upgrades in the open world!

Updated camera controls

The cursor is now hidden when traversing the open world. We still track mouse movement, but now without actually displaying a visual cursor. This should greatly enhance the camera control experience!

Addtional invisible walls

Some exploration-savvy Vikings were able to traverse hidden depths that were rather unfriendly to human characters. The open world now includes hidden walls to prevent Vikings from accessing out-of-bounds areas, getting stuck in places, and having to restart the game.

Mysterious panel has disappeared

Discovered by the Vikings, a mysterious grey panel has been removed from the open world. For the curious Vikings, It was located in front of a fence next to a house when heading towards the lighthouse. Its original purpose remains a mystery for now.

No longer getting stuck on title screen

There were reports of Vikings getting stuck on the title screen, and requiring large amounts of clicks to enter the game. This should no longer be the case.

User interface fixes

Some user interfaces fixes have been patched:

  • When a reward is pending, the "confirm" button was invisible.
  • When casting Madhattr's "Re-Direct" the selection buttons were invisible.

The buttons are now visible and usable.
